Il 31 gennaio 2018 la superluna mi chiamava insistentemente dal desktop del mio pc. Le eclissi rientrano nell’ordine naturale delle cose ma ai nostri occhi appaiono come un evento particolare che ci mette di fronte alla straordinarietà del cosmo. In quell’occasione ho avuto la possibilità di trovarmi, grazie alla mediazione della tecnologia, insieme a milioni di persone con gli occhi fissi sul satellite e sulla sua mutevole bellezza. L’evento mi ha fatta sentire in qualche modo spettatrice e parte del tutto. Da questa sensazione è nato il lavoro “Going nowhere back and forth”, installazione in cui, con una certa ironia, accentuata dall’estetica kitsch, cerco di riprodurre il flusso delle cose su diversi piani, quello macroscopico con la Luna, quello più a misura d’uomo nel video con le onde del mare che diventano tutt’uno con il mio respiro e quello microscopico con la piccola ameba che transita senza meta tra un video e l’altro. Questo flusso, per aver luogo, deve andare oltre il piano puramente virtuale dei video e far passare i mezzi fisici che gli permettono di essere riprodotto attraverso una sorta di oggetto magico posto a terra tra il pc e la proiezione: un trapezio rettangolo fatto di sabbia, che riprende il mare nel video e la cui superficie nella penombra rimanda al suolo lunare. Dall’area spuntano dei led che fanno il verso alle stelle, imitate anche dallo sfondo rosa di entrambi i filmati. Non c’è uno scopo o una finalità da ricercare: il lavoro è soltanto questo continuo vagare tra diversi piani di grandezza e diverse dimensioni, reale e immaginaria, che a volte ci disturba, altre volte ci culla rassicurante nell’ambiente immersivo che crea.
On January 31st, 2018 the supermoon was insistently calling me from the desktop of my PC. Eclipses are part of the natural order of things but appear to us as a special event that put ourselves in front of the extraordinary nature of the cosmos. On that occasion I had the opportunity to find myself, thanks to the mediation of technology, along with millions of people with eyes fixed on the satellite and its changing beauty. The event made me feel somehow a spectator and part of the whole. From this feeling came the work “Going nowhere back and forth”, an installation in which, with a certain irony, accentuated by kitsch aesthetics, I try to reproduce the flow of things on different levels, the macroscopic one with the Moon, the one more on a human scale in the video with the waves of the sea that become one with my breath and the microscopic one with the little amoeba that transits aimlessly between one video and another. This flow must go beyond the purely virtual plane of video to take place and must pass the physical means, that allow it to be reproduced, through a sort of magical object placed on the ground between the PC and the projection: a rectangle trapezoid made of sand, which resumes the sea in the video and whose surface in the semi-darkness refers to the lunar ground. From the area stand out some leds that mimic the stars, also imitated by the pink background of both movies. There is no purpose to be sought: the work is only this continuous wandering between different levels of size and different dimensions, real and imaginary, which sometimes disturbs us, while other times cradle us in the immersive environment that creates
